Murrumba Downs Aquatic Centre achieves top-tier safety recognition

Murrumba Downs Aquatic Centre has achieved Platinum Status under the Royal Life Saving Society’s Platinum Pools Program – the highest possible recognition for aquatic safety and compliance.

This marks the first time Belgravia Leisure managed venues in Queensland have attained Platinum endorsement, following consecutive years of 100 percent compliance and safety ratings exceeding 95 percent.

The milestone underscores Belgravia Leisure’s leadership in aquatic safety across the Moreton Bay region, with results that significantly exceed the national aquatic industry compliance average.

“Achieving these outstanding safety and compliance scores reflects the hard work of our team and our commitment to safety within our community – we’re incredibly proud,” said Maddie Riley, Venue Manager at Murrumba Downs Aquatic Centre.

Scott Vanderheyden, General Manager – Health and Safety at Belgravia Leisure, said maintaining high safety standards requires consistency, commitment and an ongoing focus.

The Platinum Pools Program, administered by Royal Life Saving Society Australia, sets a rigorous national benchmark for public aquatic facilities. Platinum Status is reserved exclusively for organisations that demonstrate exceptional performance over successive years, consistently achieving the highest assessment scores while embedding best-practice safety systems into everyday operations.

The Aquatic Facility Safety Assessment (AFSA) provides a comprehensive evaluation of venue safety standards, benchmarking performance against industry best practice, state and national standards, and relevant legislative requirements. The assessment process supports continual improvement by identifying opportunities to strengthen safety systems and operational excellence.
